I love mixed martial arts and I love the shows that feature the best fighters in the world in epic battles especially in the UFC. This is the organization that has the deepest pool of talents and its stable of stellar superstars just can't be beat by small competitions like Strikeforce and EliteXC. They have the greatest line-up of champions i.e. Brock Lesnar, Lyoto Machida, Anderson Silva, Georges St. Pierre and B.J. Penn. Even the challengers gearing for a title shot are forces to be reckoned with in a world of hurt and fighting. I love how the fights are always real, no BS, no nonsense, just pure fighting unlike in the WWE and its glamor, baby oil boys.
Recently I heard that Anderson Silva was sidelined with an elbow injury and will not be able to fight until next year just as a formidable opponent comes in the form of Vitor Belfort., my favorite fighter of all time. That would have been an excellent title match to cap the year off and I was bummed out that I would have to wait next year to see The Phenom back in action. But what really bugs me is Brock Lesnar's supposed "illness" just when the fight with heavy-handed Shane Carwin was drawing nearer and the fans are getting more excited. Is Brock afraid of stepping inside the cage against a man his own size and with the same wrestling skills and bakground? Is he afraid that he had met his match and he would be revealed as the bully that he is, picking on opponents much smaller than himself? He seems physically fine to me; he was even seen attending a football match. Isn't flu contagious, Brock, and shouldn't you be resting or training? What are you doing amidst a huge crowd? It seems like that the match would have to wait until next year and that plain pisses me off. Another fight cancelled because of prima dona fighters.
To pass the time, I am setting my sights on the upcoming matches of Randy "The Natural" Couture and Brandon "The Truth" Vera and the title defense of BJ "The Prodigy" Penn against Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez. Also when I am not writing essays, journals or studying for exams, I watch old episodes and I try to analyze and predict who will win in the upcoming fights. And when the Lesnar-Carwin fight comes, I hope that the gloves are off and they turn the match into a violent slugfest. I am hungry for a gerat fight and I hope that there will be blood soon. Move it, Dana!
